The Catoblepas comes from Africa, Ethiopia. First described by Pliny the Elder. It is described as having the body of a buffalo or bull. The head is similar to a hog. It has scales on its body to protect itself. The Greek translation of Catoblepas means to look downward. It is said that one look from the Catoblepas could kill you. It's breath was also poisonous.
